56055 (2024). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: Who was not selected to participate in the targeted consultation on the Holidays Act reform, and why?

Hon Brooke van Velden: During the registration window from 5 June 2024 to 8 July 2024, over 700 people and organisations completed a registration of interest in participating in the targeted consultation on the Holidays Act reform. It was not possible to select everyone who registered their interest in participating in the targeted consultation. Of those who registered their interest, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has selected 100 stakeholders to take part in the targeted consultation. Of those stakeholders, 40 have been selected for their technical expertise (such as pay system providers, payroll professionals, legal practitioners, human resource providers and accountants), 35 reflect an employer perspective, with a strong focus on small and medium businesses, and 25 reflect an employee perspective. Representative bodies have been included in each group. A sample size of 100 strikes a balance between gaining feedback to help the Government make decisions on next steps for the reforms and the time it will take before a Bill is ready to be introduced to Parliament. There will be a further opportunity for all stakeholders to provide input once the Bill is introduced and is considered by a Select Committee.
