56046 (2024). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister of Climate Change: What specific impact does modelling suggest potential rises in carbon prices will have on "everyday New Zealanders"?
Hon Simon Watts: Modelling projects New Zealand Unit prices to rise to around $75 in 2026 and $96 by 2029. Compared to the status quo, this would be expected to increase Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation by 0.03 percentage points per annum between 2025 and 2029. For an average household, this would equate to an increase in annual household expenditure of about $40 in 2026 and $100 by 2029.
