56000 (2024). Steve Abel to the Minister for Resources: What is the use, if anything, of Sub Bituminous coal in New Zealand?

Hon Shane Jones: I am advised that sub-bituminous coal is primarily used domestically for: electricity generation, steel making, industrial process heat, commercial heating, agricultural forestry and fishing processes, commercial heating, residential heating, and transport.
