55963 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Associate Minister of Health: Does the Minister agree with Aged Care Association chief executive Tracey Martin that the country was facing a shortage of 12,000 care beds by 2032; if so, what, if anything, will she do to address this?
Hon Casey Costello: The potential shortage of beds was suggested in a report commissioned by Health NZ as part of the first stage of the Aged Care Funding and Service Model Review. Completion of the second stage of the review will lay the foundations for ensuring that older New Zealanders are able to access the right care in the right places and the right settings.
