55925 (2024). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister for Child Poverty Reduction: How, if at all, does she intend to address the fact that over 50 percent of children in material hardship are living in working households?
Hon Louise Upston: The Government recognises that many children in material hardship live in low-income working households and that’s why we are implementing a range of measures to address the cost of living, make work pay and ensure low- and middle-income New Zealanders can keep more of what they earn. This includes the following measures announced in Budget 2024:
• introducing FamilyBoost
• increasing personal income tax thresholds
• increasing the In-Work Tax Credit
