55638 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Regulation: Does the Ministry for Regulation intend to employ deputy chief executives, if so when and what is the range of their salaries?
Hon David Seymour: Officials advise that recruitment for the three Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) positions in the Ministry for Regulation’s permanent structure is currently underway. The start dates for these positions will depend on the successful candidates’ availability. These job descriptions were formally job sized by an external party resulting in a remuneration range of $257,574 - $348,482. Candidates for these roles were advised as part of the application process that “The expected salary will be in the high $200,000s, with some flexibility for exceptional candidates.” If it would help the member to contextualise, if the Ministry for Regulation appointed a DCE on a salary of $295k or less, we estimate they would be in the lower 40% of DCE salaries in the Public Service based on PSC workforce data from June 2023.
