Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: In response to Reply 53298 (2025) and Reply 53297 (2025), how does the Minister know that "474 schools have been allocated an in-school LSC entitlement for 2026" (Reply 53297) if "Ministry of Education (the Ministry) does not currently hold this information" (Reply 53298)?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that 474 schools have been allocated an in-school Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) entitlement for 2026. The regional school lists detailing Full Time Teacher Equivalent (FTTE) entitlement, and the year schools will receive it, is publicly available at https://www.education.govt.nz/lsc. The 474 schools with an FTTE allocation in 2026 are currently recruiting to fill these roles, which are funded from January 2026. The Ministry will hold information on how many schools have filled their LSC FTTE allocation from February 2026, using payroll information.
