55469 (2025). Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: What steps are being taken to enhance New Zealand’s participation in international law-enforcement and intelligence-sharing partnerships to respond to transnational organised crime if any?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) actively works with international partners to help combat transnational, serious, and organised crime. This includes participation in border-related partnerships, such as those with our Border 5 partners.
Customs also maintains an international network of overseas liaison officers, which provides links to existing and emerging law enforcement and intelligence-sharing partnerships. Through this work, Customs remains alert to new opportunities for collaboration worldwide.
In addition, Customs continually reviews and strengthens these partnerships to ensure it can respond swiftly and effectively to evolving threats at the border.
