55432 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister for Biosecurity: How many people have been employed directly or indirectly on Plant Health & Environment Capability Laboratory, as at 24 November 2025?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised that, as at 24 November 2025, there were 7 people directly employed by the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) in the Plant Health and Environment Capability Programme. The programme is also supported by other parts of MPI, and the build workstream is managed by Crown Infrastructure Delivery (CID). In addition, construction of the new facility is expected to create and maintain a large number of jobs across the design and construction companies involved. An additional five FTEs will be required for MPI to manage functions relating to being an owner/operator of the new Plant Health and Environment Laboratory.
