55338 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Immigration: Does the Minister agree with the US State Department that 'Mass migration poses an existential threat to Western civilization and undermines the stability of key American allies.' and if so why and if not why not?
Hon Erica Stanford: I have no Ministerial responsibility for statements by the US State Department. I note that the situation in New Zealand is very different to other nations. Our distance and lack of common borders with other countries, along with clear and well-managed immigration settings that facilitate needed temporary and permanent migration, all support the integrity of our border. I am proud of this Government's immigration settings that balance providing opportunities for New Zealanders while also welcoming migrants who bring needed skills and experience to New Zealand alongside our humanitarian and family pathways.
