55151 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What was the total amount of deferred maintenance for Fire and Emergency New Zealand property in 2023/24?
Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fire and Emergency) that its Asset Management Plans outline a minimum level of planned and preventative maintenance, renewals, and upgrades necessary to avoid deterioration, mitigate risk, and ensure continuity of service delivery. In 2023/24 Fire and Emergency deferred around $9.56 million in planned and preventative maintenance, and around $15.96 million in capital renewals. This resulted in an estimated total deferred maintenance of $25.52 million for the property portfolio in 2023/24.
