Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What were the names of projects designed to encourage cycling and walking, for which NZTA halted work after receiving instructions from the Minister of Transport in December 2023, broken down by name, location and status of the project when work was halted?

Hon Chris Bishop: I refer the Member to the attached table. These projects had completed pre implementation requirements under the Transport Choices programme and were construction ready at the time Climate Emergency Response Fund (CERF) implementation funding was withdrawn in December 2023. These were Council led projects, supported technically by NZTA. NZTA did not halt work on these projects; rather, the then Minister directed that CERF implementation funding would not be available. Some projects subsequently proceeded without CERF funding.
