55021 (2025). Hon Carmel Sepuloni to the Associate Minister of Education: Is it his view that an organisation that takes students off school grounds without the permission that school is suitable to run that same school as a charter school, if so, why?

Hon David Seymour: Corrected reply: The Charter School Authorisation Board assesses an organisation’s suitability to operate a charter school depends on whether it meets all legislative and regulatory requirements, including the fit and proper person test, health and safety obligations, and the Charter School Authorisation Board’s criteria relating to governance, management, and student wellbeing. Any conduct involving taking students off school grounds without permission would raise serious concerns and would be a relevant factor in assessing whether an organisation is suitable to operate a charter school. In my view sponsors should meet those obligations and tests.
