54693 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: Have officials estimated the total cost to ratepayers for the Crown facilitator appointed to assist the Waitaki District Council with their water services delivery plan and if not, why not?

Hon Simon Watts: I have been advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that the estimated workload for a Crown facilitator is 60 hours per month based on the role being part-time, although this could vary month by month depending on the type of assistance required. The renumeration for the Crown facilitator to support Waitaki District Council has been determined in accordance with section 35 of the Local Government (Water Services Preliminary Arrangements) Act 2024, and in accordance with the Cabinet fees framework.
