54505 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: If a New Zealand bank currently "wants to pause a suspicious payment", who, if anyone, is the Minister suggesting would be "looking over their shoulder"?
Hon Scott Simpson: As explained in my press release, entities tell us they want to pull these scams down earlier, but they worry about being prosecuted if they accidentally take down a legitimate customer or website. These changes give them more confidence to act when something looks wrong. My press release is available on the Beehive website.
