Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: How many, if any, claims made to the Ministry of Education's sensitive claims process (formerly known as historic abuse claims) have legal representation, for each calendar year 2020 to 2024 and separated into legal aid and private legal representation?

Hon Erica Stanford: Claims made to the Ministry of Education’s (the Ministry) sensitive claims process that had legal representation between 2020 and 2024 are listed below, for each calendar year: • 2020: 48 claims • 2021: 43 claims • 2022: 161 claims • 2023: 66 claims • 2024: 177 claims. I am advised that the Ministry does not record whether representation was through legal aid or private lawyers.
