54423 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Statistics: Has the Minister commissioned or reviewed any assessments of how inaccurate or incomplete data on Pasifika communities could impact government planning, funding, or service delivery for Pasifika communities and if so what are those documents by date and title and if not why not?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: As Minister of Statistics, I have not commissioned or reviewed any assessments as it is not the role of Stats NZ to comment on the potential impacts of data quality. As part of Stats NZ’s commitment to better delivering to partner and customer need, it is actively working with other agencies, including the Ministry of Pacific Peoples, to improve the quality of ethnicity admin data as part of the new census model.
