54238 (2024). Scott Willis to the Minister for Energy: What estimates, if any, were kept on the emissions reduction impact of the Warmer Kiwi Homes program?
Hon Simeon Brown: Estimates are kept on the emissions reductions of both the insulation and heating components of the Warmer Kiwi Homes (WKH) program.
I am advised that the estimates for insulation programs include the emissions reductions for the earlier program Warm Up NZ which was introduced in 2009. In 2018 at the beginning of the WKH insulation program emissions reductions for insulation were estimated at 6.76Kt per year. EECA projects this to rise to 8.61Kt by 2027.
The WKH heating program estimated 0.35Kt of reductions per annum when it was introduced in 2021 this is projected to rise to 3.34Kt by 2027.
