54203 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Vocational Education: How much has been budgeted, if any, for renumeration of Crown appointees in the Minsiter's departments, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, for the 2025-26 financial year?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I am responsible for setting the fees for the members of the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST) Council, the Workforce Development Councils (WDCs) and the Industry Skills Boards (ISBs), in accordance with the Cabinet Fees Framework. I also set the maximum fees payable to members of the polytechnic councils, in accordance with the Fees Framework, and each council will determine their actual fee up to the maximum. The fees and maximums I have set for these entities are provided in the attached table. Fees for members of the NZIST Council, the WDCs, the polytechnic governing councils, and the ISBs are paid for from within each entity’s baselines. As these entities are all institutionally autonomous, I do not hold specific information relating to the budgeted 2025-26 fees for these councils and boards. The member may wish to request this information directly from these entities. In addition, governance fees information will be disclosed in these entities’ future annual reports.
