54174 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister for Infrastructure: How, if at all, will the Public and Private Sector be able to engage with the 30-year National Infrastructure Plan?
Hon Chris Bishop: The Infrastructure Commission will be engaging widely during the development of the National Infrastructure Plan, including with the public and private sector. The public and private sector can learn more about the Infrastructure Priorities Programme on the Commission’s website and can submit proposals to the Infrastructure Priorities Programme for assessment. The public and private sectors are also able to search the National Infrastructure Pipeline for projects online, and contributions to the Pipeline on infrastructure projects from both the public and private sectors are welcome. As at 30 June this year, the Commission’s Pipeline already had 85 contributing organisations, covering more than 6,000 projects with a combined value of $147.6 billion. Through the Plan, the Commission will be strengthening the Pipeline to cover all infrastructure providers – so I strongly encourage more public and private sector providers to come on board. Public and private sector organisations will also be able to provide feedback on the draft National Infrastructure Plan when it is released for consultation around mid-2025.
