54154 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Attorney-General: How much in total, if any, was spent on renumeration of Crown appointees in the Minister's departments, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, for the 2024-25 financial year?
Hon Judith Collins: The Solicitor-General is appointed by the Governor-General on advice from the Attorney-General. The total remuneration spent on Crown appointees in 2024-25 by Crown Law was $676,000.
The Chief Parliamentary Counsel is appointed by the Governor-General on advice from the Attorney-General. In addition, the Attorney-General nominates a retired High Court Judge to certify revision bills drafted by the Parliamentary Counsel Office under the Legislation Act 2019. The total remuneration spent on Crown appointees in 2024-25 by the Parliamentary Counsel Office was $425,219.40.
