Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: How much in total, if any, was spent on renumeration of Crown appointees in the Minister's departments, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, for the 2024-25 financial year?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised that the total remuneration for 2024/25 for Crown appointees to Crown entity boards and other statutory bodies was $619,180. The total remuneration covers the Children and Young People’s Commission (now the Children’s Commissioner), New Zealand Artificial Limb Service, Social Workers Registration Board, Social Workers Disciplinary Tribunal, and the South Auckland Social Wellbeing Board. It does not cover the Social Security Appeal Authority and Student Allowance Appeal Authority, which are administered by the Ministry of Justice. It also does not cover the Independent Children’s Monitor, which was a departmental agency until 31 July 2025 and therefore did not have a board (with Crown appointee positions) in 2024/25.
