54004 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery: How will NEMA ensure, if at all, that accurate, science-based emergency information continues to be available 24/7 after the merger of GNS and NIWA is completed?

Hon Mark Mitchell: This is an operational matter for Earth Science New Zealand and NEMA. My expectation is that Earth Science New Zealand’s responsibilities under the National CDEM Plan Order 2015 continue to be met, including providing advice as needed to contribute to the management of public information on geological hazards and associated emergencies.
