53980 (2024). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What cost, if any, does the 26-week re-application period present to the Ministry of Social Development's existing resources?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that reapplication for benefit forms part of the wider duties of the Ministry’s frontline staff. There are no full-time equivalent Work and Income staff that are entirely, or predominately processing reapplications. As such, the Ministry is unable to categorise the specific costs of reapplications from other duties.
