53941 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 in actioning the recommendation ‘Reduce the complexity of the current vaccinator training, assessment, and authorisation processes while maintaining the required clinical safety and quality requirements’ under ‘Priority Area 2: Authorisation of childhood vaccinators’ within the ‘Initial Priorities for the National Immunisation Programme in Aotearoa 2022’?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the January to March 2024 quarter, work began on enhancing the Vaccinator Authorisation Portal to include pharmacist vaccinators who are transitioning to whole-of-life authorised vaccinators. This enhancement also removed the need for a prescription or standing order for the vaccinator to practice prior to being clinically assessed for the administration of vaccines to those younger than two years of age.
