Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 in actioning the recommendation ‘Offering alternative options and choices for scheduled childhood immunisation, including kaupapa Māori services, to tamariki Māori’ under ‘Priority Area 4: Enrolment into health services from birth’ within the ‘Initial Priorities for the National Immunisation Programme in Aotearoa 2022’?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that in the January to March 2024 quarter, Te Aka Whai Ora worked to release funding to Hauora Māori providers. I am further advised that as a result of the progress made, these providers are now offering different choices and option for whānau Māori, including kaupapa Māori immunisation services targeted at pēpi and tamariki. Whānau Māori are also able to access vaccinations through non-kaupapa Māori channels, including general practice and pharmacies.
