53812 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What is the average time, if any, taken for Oranga Tamariki to notify a person who has lodged a claim for abuse in care that their claim is eligible, for claimaints without legal representation?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that, for the period 1 August 2025 to 19 November 2025, the average time taken for Oranga Tamariki to notify a person who has lodged a claim for abuse in care that their claim is eligible is 11 days. I am also advised that Oranga Tamariki have not consistently captured the date eligibility is determined prior to August 2025.
