53777 (2024). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister for Energy: What sustainable and renewable energy initiatives, if any, has the Minister considered to tackle the energy shortage?
Hon Simeon Brown: As I announced on Monday 26 August, the Government is making it easier to develop renewable electricity supply through our Electrify NZ plan. This will help with energy security by improving the supply of renewable energy. The Electrify NZ initiatives include: 1. Establishing a one-stop-shop fast track approvals and permitting regime 2. Amendments to the RMA to speed up resource consenting 3. Stronger national direction for renewable energy 4. A new regime for offshore wind 5. Updated regulatory settings for electricity networks and new connections The member can find more information at https://www.beehive.govt.nz/release/next-steps-electrifying-new-zealand
