53758 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Did the Minister imply that year 8s who are taught the curriculum have a 100% pass rate during her answer to Oral Parliamentary Question 10 on August 21st 2024; if so, how can she claim that there is a "maths achievement problem"?

Hon Erica Stanford: No. The member is well aware from her time as Minister that we have a significant problem with declining achievement in mathematics New Zealand. It is unfortunate that she chose not to act with urgency to address it when she had the opportunity.
