Rt Hon Winston Peters: I am advised for its current premises in New Zealand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (the Ministry) has, since 1 July 2023, spent approximately NZ$242,004.50 on office furnishings and décor, staff wellbeing or break-room facilities and repairs, replacements or damage to property or hired items. The Ministry did not spend any money on recreational equipment or non-essential electrical items or appliances. The Ministry purchases functional decorative items for its office and residential accommodation. Representation or entertainment is a core diplomacy function. The Ministry does not purchase novelty items and or non-functional decorative or entertainment items. In the 2024/25 financial year, the Ministry spent NZ$17,881.50 on promotional materials in the Manaaki Scholarships programme.
