Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Associate Minister of Health: What criteria, if any, does the Ministry of Health use to assess whether a historic abuse survivor with a closed claim with the Ministry of Health or Crown Health Financing Agency is eligible for a payment to bring their original payment in line with other redress agencies?

Hon Matt Doocey: A survivor with an eligible top-up claim is one with a settlement within the scope of those agreed by Cabinet. I am advised that the Ministry of Health checks the identity of the claimant and records of previous settlements, to confirm eligibility.
