53660 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Corrections: What, if any, claims process for historic abuse in care does the Department of Corrections have in place?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections has administrative responsibility for responding to historic claims of abuse at youth penal institutions, which operated under the former Department of Justice. As reflected in the Crown’s Redress Implementation Plan, work on the approach to assessing and responding to claims made to Corrections is underway. The integration of claims made to Corrections into redress processes is aligned to the delivery of the integrated operated model to be completed by June 2026, as part of the Crown’s response to redress.
