Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for the Public Service: Will the Public Service Commission undertake a full costing for the additional cost of board member fees for members of statutory tribunals, authorities, and other committees that will be covered by the rise in board member fees under the Cabinet Fees Framework, and if not, why not?

Hon Judith Collins: No. Responsible Ministers oversee fee reviews and will consider any cost implications for public body operating budgets as part of those reviews. This includes ensuring adjustments are affordable and managed within existing baselines. Departments must report all fee reviews to the Public Service Commission. Fee reviews include the classification against the Cabinet Fees Framework, the proposed increase along with justification using the established criteria in the Framework, and that fee adjustments can be managed through existing baselines.
