53300 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What does the Minister mean by “benefit from the skills and support of a Learning Support Coordinator (LSC)”?
Hon Erica Stanford: The LSC role benefits schools by working directly with learners, teachers and whānau. They provide practical support to schools to observe, understand and identify support needs, while actively influencing school-practices and providing in-school supports. The LSC role enables teachers and specialists to better identify learning support needs early in a child’s life and provide the right support for children with learning support needs. LSCs also make it easier for families to understand and access learning support at school.
