53199 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Vocational Education: What are the funding rules and criteria, if any, for the creation of Private Training Establishments, as of 1 November 2020?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I refer the Member to Section 346 of the Education and Training Act 2020 and the funding mechanisms for the creation of Private Training Establishments. Funding rules are set out in funding mechanisms that are updated each year. The below link shows iterations of the funding mechanisms between 2020 and 2025: https://www.tec.govt.nz/funding/funding-conditions-and-mechanisms/funding-mechanisms-and-policy-settings/funding-mechanisms-and-delegations I note that Subsections (1)(e) and (1)(h)(i) of Section 346 of the Education and Training Act 2020 was amended on 1 August 2022 by the Education and Training Amendment Act 2022 to include reference to micro-credentials.
