53179 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Has the Minister or his office directly engaged with Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown to discuss pathways to repair trust and improve cooperation and if so what are those communications by date and title and if not, why not?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: In my capacity as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, I have communicated with the Cook Islands Prime Minister several times on the current challenges between New Zealand and the Cook Islands, including on how trust can be restored in the relationship. It is not in the public interest to list these communications to avoid prejudicing international relations and relations between New Zealand and the Cook Islands.
