52818 (2021). Chris Bishop to the Minister for COVID-19 Response: Is he aware of what countries provide just one dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for people aged 12-15, if so, what countries do that; and is he aware of what countries provide two doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for people aged 12-15?
Hon Chris Hipkins: I am advised that the Pfizer vaccine is proven to be highly effective in young people after two doses are administered, and that millions of people around the world aged 12 to 15 years have now been vaccinated with two doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The decision to use two doses of the Pfizer vaccine in children aged 12 to 15-years-old was based on Medsafe approval and expert advice provided by the COVID-19 Vaccine Technical Advisory Group. The Ministry of Health continues to monitor emerging international evidence on the use of COVID-19 vaccines.
