52642 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Customs: What is the total sum of money spent, if any, on contractors and consultants to assist in any change processes, role disestablishments, and/or restructures, at departments, ministries and agencies for which the Minister is responsible, since 27 November 2023, listed by month and agency?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that, as at 26 August 2024, the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) has spent a total of $91,816.33 on contractors and consultants to assist with the organisational change programme since 27 November 2023.
These costs were for one contractor to assist in the drafting of Customs’ organisational change proposal and decision documents, at a cost of $36,944.33 (including GST). Additionally, two contractors already engaged by Customs for a different project also provided change management assistance with the organisational change programme. The combined cost for these contractors for this work was $54,872 (including GST).
