52620 (2025). Rt Hon Chris Hipkins to the Prime Minister: On what date, if any, was Hon Andrew Bayly first informed that no formal complaint had been made against him regarding an alleged incident with a staff member in February 2025, and who informed him?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: I am advised that at no stage did DIA tell Mr Bayly that a complaint had been made against him – formal or informal. Concerns had been raised with DIA about an incident in Mr Bayly’s office, and as a result DIA had met with staff involved and immediate witnesses, and then met with Mr Bayly to give him an opportunity to provide his views before deciding on appropriate next steps, which could have included a formal investigation.
