52586 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What written advice, notes, briefings, reports and aides-memoire, if any, has the Minister received on Fiji’s concept of an “Ocean of Peace”, (formerly called Zone of Peace)?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: In my capacity as Minister of Foreign Affairs, I have received written advice and a briefing that refers to Fiji’s “Ocean of Peace” concept, including as part of briefing for travel. I have also received diplomatic reporting on this topic. It is not in the public interest to release the title of this reporting, to avoid prejudicing the international relations of the New Zealand Government. The “Ocean of Peace” concept was discussed at the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting and covered in the communiqué of that meeting.
