52564 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister for Trade: How many, if any, existing non-tariff barriers are there for Marine Farms/aquaculture, listed by number of barriers and type?

Hon Todd McClay: I am advised that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is currently tracking six non-tariff barriers relating to aquaculture. These barriers include import bans, excessive phytosanitary standards, tariff rate quotas, and the refusal of another Government's veterinary agencies to undertake necessary audits for New Zealand exporters to enter that market.
