52529 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What resources/funding, if any, do Home Educating whānau currently have access to receive, and how are they informed of their eligibility to access this?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that home educating families can access a supervision allowance. All home educating families with one or more active student(s) are contacted by the Ministry twice a year, in March and August. The mailout includes a covering letter with information about payment of the supervision allowance, the statutory declaration, and allowance form.
Home educating families may also be eligible to access other support and resources from the Ministry. Further information about supports is available here: https://parents.education.govt.nz/primary-school/schooling-in-nz/home-education/#othersupportorresources
