52521 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Does the Minister agree with the principals of the Ōtaki-Kāpiti region, who said that the 2022 OECD Pisa report showed “New Zealand placed seventh (of 81 countries), well above the OECD average”, in mathematics; if not, why not?

Hon Erica Stanford: No. The 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) report shows that New Zealand’s score in mathematics was lower than 19 other countries, including the United Kingdom and Australia and similar to six others.
