52494 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Housing: What advice or information, if any, has the minister received about potential economic and social impacts of delaying Kāinga Ora developments?

Hon Chris Bishop: As with all Budget initiatives the impact of each investment is incorporated into the advice for consideration by Ministers. Kāinga Ora still has approximately 2,600 net new social housing places to deliver over the coming years to meet existing commitments. Kāinga Ora has the responsibility to ensure that all developments are financially feasible and align with locations where the Government is requiring delivery for example to reduce the number of houses in emergency housing.
