52449 (2025). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Transport: Has construction begun on the SH2 Melling Interchange project?

Hon Chris Bishop: Yes, construction started on 2 September 2025, beginning with site establishment, and ground improvements and relocation of utilities where the interchange will be built. From next year, work begins on relocation and construction of the new train station facility, physical road improvements where the interchange and bridge will connect to roads in Lower Hutt, and further ground stabilisation work.
