52440 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Are the number of breakdowns of fire trucks, if any, collected by Fire and Emergency New Zealand, if not, why not?

Hon Brooke van Velden: As the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs said in response to questions in Parliament on 6 November 2025, Fire and Emergency’s systems, which predate the establishment of the organisation in 2017, do not support an accurate response to the question. A full system replacement is planned to begin in the 2025/26 financial year to modernise how faults are reported, tracked, and resolved. This new system will significantly improve the information Fire and Emergency can report.
