52424 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: Does the Minister consider her government is still taking a "one-size fits all approach" to education, considering prospective teachers are now required to have NCEA Level 2 Maths for teacher training, while charter school teachers do not require a teaching qualification?
Hon Erica Stanford: Charter schools will be able to hire registered teachers and teachers with a Limited Authority to Teach. The charter school contracts will specify a minimum percentage of certificated teachers that a school must have. Consideration will be given to balancing the flexibility for schools and how they deliver their curriculum, and achieve the outcomes they will be contracted for.
