52409 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: In response to Reply 39604, what is the process for an education review of a home schooling family?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that the process for an education review of a home schooling family is focused on each exempted child and whether they are being taught at least as regularly and as well as in a registered school. The Ministry requests the Education Review Office (ERO) to carry out an education review where a serious complaint has been raised about an exempted child’s education. The review is undertaken according to ERO processes and a report is provided to both the family and the Ministry with guidance on regularity and sufficiency of provision. The report is then considered by the Ministry when deciding to continue or revoke the exemption.
