52398 (2025). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: What is the estimated economic impact of an established yellow-legged hornet on New Zealand’s agricultural sector, specifically in relation to honey production and crop pollination?
Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised that the economic impact is dependent on how dispersed and established any yellow-legged hornet populations could be. At present, the small number of detections of these hornets is limited to a part of Auckland, and there is no effect on crop pollination or honey production.
