52384 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: How, if at all, is removing "At the Marae" from the Ready to Read Phonics series aligned with Te Aka Maurea me te Maihi Karauna?

Hon Erica Stanford: At the Marae has not been removed from the Ready to Read Phonics Plus series. It has been reformatted into a large ‘big book’ edition, which is ideal for shared reading sessions, and remains a valuable resource available for classroom use. I am advised by the Ministry of Education that physical copies of the new big book version of At the Marae have been sent to all primary schools and a digital version is available on the Ministry’s curriculum website, Tāhūrangi. Schools can also order reprints from Down the Back of the Chair, the Ministry’s online catalogue of teaching and learning resources.
